SAVE COSTS, SAVE TIME AND SAVE MATERIAL

Better, Stronger Road Edges

Old way - Grader creates broken edges.

New way - Sidewinder provides neat, straight edges and a uniform excavation.

Old way - Grader rips surface and subgrade.

New way - Sharpe Bros do not disturb the subgrade. Uniform excavation allows for consistent layer depths.

Old way - Broken and scalloped road edges allow for water entry and variable deformed sections of pavement.
A poor construction method.

New way - Sharpe Bros Sidewinder method allows for consistent, straight road edges and uniform layers for greater tensile strength.
A much better construction method.

Sharpe Bros Sidewinder train of equipment provides a consistent construction method. The compaction and tensile strength of the work is maintained throughout the entire project. Water entry is minimised due to the straight edges provided by the Sidewinder method. The Sidewinder Camber Control maintains the shape and crossfall of the existing road. Bitumen sealing of the finished project can be sprayed in a straight, continuous direction. Overall, the Sharpe Bros Sidewinder train of equipment provides a consistent construction method.

TWO LAYERS OF ASPHALT WORKS WITH SIDEWINDER

Photo 1 - The latest equipment arrives for work.

Photo 2 - The new profiler excavated the road edge directly to the tipper.

Photo 3 - Sidewinder starts paving the base layer of hot mix asphalt.

Photo 4 - Notice the profiler just ahead. This "train of equipment" moves down the road with speed and efficiency.

Photo 5 - The base layer is compacted.

Photo 6 - The top layer is finished and ready for traffic.

Photo 7 - Before Sharpe Bros.

Photo 8 - After Sharpe Bros.
Rather than waiting for sealing, using hot mix asphalt allows the road to be reopened immediately.

The time and money costs of returning for sealing works with establishment and traffic control expenses can be minimised by paving hot mix asphalt and completing each section of road daily.

IMPROVE ROAD SAFETY - WITHOUT BLOWING THE BUDGET

Photo 1 - Narrowed seal with dangerous road edge breaks.

Photo 2 - Decayed road edge with deep drop-offs.

Photo 3 - Sharpe Bros. profilers are able to excavate the road edge without disturbing the existing subgrade.

Photo 4 - The Sidewinder process allows for uniform excavation which leads to greater consistency of construction.

Photo 5 - Compared to "dump and spread" methods, the Siderwinders pave gravel efficiently to rebuild the road edge.

Photo 6 - Sidewinder paves with greater speed and accuracy. This saves time and material costs.

Photo 7 - Uniform paving with Sidewinder allows for consistent compaction and greater tensile strength of the road edge.

Photo 8 - The road is now wider and stronger.

Photo 9 - After sealing, the carriageways are wider and safer for all road users.

Photo 10 - No more drop-offs. Corners and bends are safer too.

SIDEWINDER FIXES NARROW BENDS

Photo 1 - Narrow bends with broken road edges are dangerous.

Photo 2 - Sharpe Bros. profile the road edge into tippers.

Photo 3 - Compared to ripping and tyning with a grader, Sharpe Bros. make no disturbance to the existing subgrade.

Photo 4 - New gravel is paved with Sidewinder.

Photo 5 - Sidewinder is fast and accurate. Rather than going backwards and forwards with a grader, Sidewinder moves forward continuously, allowing for greater daily production.

Photo 6 - Sidewinder matches the existing pavement shape.

Photo 7 - Consistent compaction allows for greater tensile strength.

Photo 8 - The road has been transformed, making the bend safer with minimal disturbance to road users and greater savings compared to traditional methods.

SIDEWINDER MAKES SAFER AND STRONGER ROADS

Photo 1 - Broken and dangerous road edge drop offs.

Photo 2 - Profile the road edge to the desired depth.

Photo 3 - Pave gravel, road bases or recycled materials.

Photo 4 - Pave controlled and consistent layers at 1-3 metres wide.

Photo 5 - Rollers follow the Sidewinder. Pave 1 or more layers.

Photo 6 - After sealing the road is wider, safer and stronger.

Sidewinder

The Sidewinder paves gravel at controlled depths. A controlled and consistent layer depth of gravel enables consistent compaction with increased tensile strength of the road edge.

The Sidewinder can pave from 1 metre wide up to 3 metres wide in one layer or multiple layers.

Rather than going backwards and forwards all day long with a grader and trying to get it right, the Sidewinder train of equipment continually moves forward along the road with a controlled process making roads wider, safer and stronger.

The entire process is fast and efficient and Sharpe Bros work as a united team with Councils and State Road Authorities throughout Australia.
